I played basketball yesterday with someone so concerned about the improper inflation of a basketball, he forgot what matters most.
He repeatedly complained and whined about everyone else who was stupid enough to use "the worse basketball in the gym."
What matters most to basketball (and to families)?
Teamwork.
Teamwork means setting pics and screens and helping each other out. It's encouraging others and playing defense. It especially means passing the ball.
His team lost two of three games while he never set a pick and often was outrebounded despite the fact that he seemed to have the most talent and was the biggest player on the floor at 6'6" and 240 pounds.
Talented complainers undermine teamwork.
Make others shine by doing the selfless work of passing, setting picks, and praising other's success.
And especially encourage others when they try but fail.
