On a business trip to Chicago I felt completely lost. The gigantic McCormick Convention Center was packed with 1,200 businesses clamoring for new customers. And I was trying to find new customers as I navigated the Convention Center for the first time. My method was intuitive, walk and adjust as I gained information.
Then a colleague taught me what it means to find your way by looking up, reading signs and THEN moving.
He carefully looked up to read sign after sign for businesses, food vendors and parking. And we easily found our way.
I moved BEFORE studying. He moved AFTER carefully and slowly studying.
He looked up. I looked around.
Perhaps today is a good day for you to look up, slow down and read the instructions before acting.
