I should've taken a picture. Yesterday I walked past a car-title business (a pawnshop trying to look respectable) with a boat and a few cars parked in the parking lot.
The name of the boat was in big, black letters on the back: Sweet Freedom.
I chuckled as I thought of the contrast. Someone's boat had been repossessed and was now hostage at a car-title company. Their Sweet Freedom was now a bitter hostage. It would soon be sold to pay thier debts.
It's not funny they lost the boat, but it is ironic.
Often the things we think will make us happy and free, hold us hostage with debt and despair.
The solution? Don't buy liabilities. And if you have money-suckers? Sell them.
