Five years ago we bought a Dyson at full retail from Sears (we should have bought one used for 50% sticker). After paying over $400 we figured it would never die.
But die it did. Last week.
We Googled solutions without success.
Then we called Dyson for a free diagnostic.
The problem? The plug malfunctioned. And for $110 they could fix it. For $150 they would fix the plug and perform some extra "neccesary" maintenance.
My wonderful wife called a person and found a newer used Dyson DC25 for $150. Then after consulting with me she decided to buy a $30 cord and plug from Dyson and install the new cord.
It took her 5 minutes and $30 to fix the dead Dyson. The other choices were $110-150.
