I'm back from a very fun trip to Finland! We visited friends, castles and churches from Turku to Helsinki.
My friend Dave traveled with me for nine days in a small car. And everywhere we looked we noticed tiny, compact cars: VW Golf, Scoda Citigo, and even A tiny Mercedes Benz A class. We noticed very few mini-vans, less trucks and even fewer SUVs. I saw one Cadillac Escalade and nearly feinted!
The tiny cars are normal to the Finns, but small to Americans.
Why?
Because of a term called Relative Deprivation. We believe we lack when others have more than us. Invalid comparisons cause discontent.
The cure? Be content with what we have while never being complacent with who we are becoming.
Maybe I need to get a tiny car to replace my old Lexus?
