My wife and I make 2-3 trips each week to our local library. Although we have a Kindle and other e-readers, our family still enjoys reading real books. The texture, the smell and the weight all add to the magic. And despite owning a few hundred excellent books we like to get additional volumes for free.
Each of our four children have also fallen in love with reading good books. We now read about 20 books per week as a family. By my estimates, we annually read over 1,020 books worth $16,000 for free!
Of course reading is only one of many free recreational activities. Playing at a park, sports, family history research, or playing board games all are free ways to build unity while playing.
The take-away? Frugality isn't doing without. Frugality means finding free or discounted ways to enjoy a full, rich life.
Live your dreams for less! Don't live a life of denial.
