We packed our Honda Odyssey and headed to Las Vegas for Easter with family. I drove down I-15 urgently focused on the destination.
My children and wife played and talked as I drove, but I only wanted to focus on driving.
I tried to keep up with traffic but soon became stuck behind a slow-moving truck.
Now I became angry and frustrated.
Nothing could keep me from getting to Vegas so I could enjoy a relaxing family- filled weekend.
I decided to pass the truck; I nearly succeeded.
A policeman pulled me over as I passed the truck. I was going 82 MPH in a 65 MPH zone.
As I waited for the officer to finish writing the $115 ticket, I realized that I had prioritized stressful speeding and arrival above peaceful pacing and journeying.
Fast is often slow. Too much speed often causes waste ($115 anyone?), frustration, and anger.
Slow is fast and fast is slow.
