As conflict heats up in Kiev, it's good to remember who is in charge of happiness.
The following is my post from a while ago that pertains to politics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barbara Bush said, "Your success as family, our success as a society,
depends not on what happens in the White House,
but on what happens inside your house."
That's true. If we want to be succesful we must change.
Her words put the responsibility to change squarely on our shoulders.
Sure Presidents, governors and other leaders wield immense power,
but each of us wields the real power to change.
We must focus on personal, micro change to achieve national, macro change.
Of course the best person to improve in our home is ourselves.
Changing outward behaviors, such as money skills,
is best achieved by changing inward thoughts and desires.
You can spend a lifetime trying to change a behavior to no avail.
Or you can spend a few minutes a day improving your inner self.
Increasing your discipline, improving your planning,
honing your communication and inter-personal character establishes
a foundation for quantum, outward change.
This goes for relationships too.
It's tough to change family members, friends and enemies.
But each of us can change our inner self.
And oftimes our family (and perhaps even the Whitehouse) change(s) when we change.
