...unless they need more money or have found a better employee or have decided to sell the company or are off-shoring or for any other random reason.
A smug colleague thought his sales job was secure despite months of anemic results.
Why? Because he had survived the first two rounds of terminations.
Always look for your next job ( or business) when you don't need to.
And while you are at it stockpile money, skills and credentials to increase your marketability, peace and confidence.
With proper preparation firing doesn't matter much. You simply move to a better gig.
