A man at church taught me about switching 'buts.'
Instead of using 'but' as an excuse we should use it as an enabler to make us responsible.
Often 'but' is used in such a way as to makes victims. "I would be rich but my spouse spends too much."
'But' should be used by actors in life to instill responsibility. "I could sleep in but I want to work hard for my family."
Victims or principals? It all depends on where you put your but.
