My mom likes to tell a story about my dad's lack of sports knowledge. Dad grew up on a farm spending time milking cows and driving tractors.
So one day when my parents were first married they attended a baseball game. During the game my dad said something like "nice touchdown!"
My mom had played softball and thought it funny that my dad mixed up sports.
Often we mix up financial teachings. Like the following. Both depth and breadth are important when seeking to be free financially, but we often focus only on breadth.
Focusing on breadth of options instead of depth of options.
Examples:
Calling multiple loan officers about a refinance when perhaps a loan modification would be less expensive.
Or comparing ink prices at five stores when perhaps a different printer might save more money.
Or grocery shopping at a myriad of stores when perhaps switching to making food from scratch might save more money than pre-packaged food.
Often answers come when we remember to use the right financial teaching(s).
