A few days ago I came across the phrase "you are not your profession nor your possessions."
It reminded me of a time at a family reunion. I asked my cousin what was happening in his life. He told me about being a father instead of telling me about work or his coolest new gadgets.
For years this cousin has done very well in his profession and has had amazing possessions from bullet-bikes, gorgeous homes to nice cars and cruises.
Nevertheless he gets ultimate joy from who he really is: a father.
Note that knowing who he is didn't force him to miserly minimize modern conveniences nor did it force him to excessive self-denial.
He enjoys life but knows his professions nor his possessions are him.
He is someone with worth independent of things and titles.
