My friend Harold died a few months ago. He is the one I wrote about in March of 2012 who bought his dream car before it was too late.
He passed away within 18 months of his cancer diagnosis. I cried again when I thought of his happy smile and concern for other people.
He always asked me how I was doing and if there was anything he could do for me.
He worked hard and smart.
His life looked like this:
Survival->Success->Significance->Legacy
His hard work helped him retire early. Then he began to help people to a greater extent by donating several hours of his time each week.
When he died many people wrote and spoke of his impact, his legacy.
No one mentioned his beautiful orange vintage Corvette Stingray.
Pursue your Corvette so you can rise above survival. Then pursue helping other people so you can feel significant.
And make certain you give so much that people can't help talking about your legacy! (Triple emphasis intended)
