I came across a familiar classic poem which illustrates some sage advice for anyone looking for prosperity.
“Twas a dangerous cliff, as they freely confessed,
Though to walk near its crest was so pleasant;
But over its terrible edge there had slipped
A duke and full many a peasant.
So the people said something would have to be done,
But their projects did not at all tally;
Some said, “Put a fence around the edge of the cliff,”
Some, “An ambulance down in the valley.”
Joseph Malins reminds us to prevent and prepare instead of repent and repair.
It is noble to repair financial problems. It is better to prevent financial problems.
Good fences to build include honesty, open communication, passive income skills, value shopping (excellent quality at lowest cost), and frequently reviewing a written budget with your spouse.
What fence can you build today to avoid tomorrow's ambulance?
