The nearly free non-U-Haul

My dad shared some frugal counsel with me. He told me he once bought a $600 trailer to haul personal possessions from Utah to New York. When he arrived in New York he sold his trailer for $600. His total cost for use of a trailer was very small--just the cost to register it and list it for sale-about $100

Next he told me he recently priced a U-haul trailer to haul personal possessions from New York to Florida. The cost? $1,700. My guess is he will buy and sell another trailer instead of paying $1,700.

We are often tempted to spend money we don't have. By living within our means, we become creatively resourceful. We find ways to live within our means when we have to.
