Growing Pains was a fun to show to watch during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The Seaver family in Growing Pains had humor, fun, and occasional challenges.
During Growing Pains Kirk Cameron (aka Mike Seaver) had massive fame and made a fortune to rival Michael J Fox/ Alex Keaton of Family Ties.
Kirk Cameron became a teen icon for a few years and then seemed to disappear.
A few years ago I discovered what happened to Kirk Cameron.
As I wathced a movie he starred in called Fireproof I decided to learn more about him by reading his autobiography, Still Growing.
To my joy I learned that he now values family and faith more than fame and fortune. He married Chelsea Noble and remains loyal to her.
He acted in Fireproof for free delivering an incredible message of marriage, hope and faith.
He uses his wealth to adopt and raise children and run Camp Firefly for terminally ill children.
His story seems to encapsulate my blog: money is great if it is used to build faith and relationships.
Too many ultra-rich stars (in Hollywood and sports) have cheated on spouses and wrecked marriages. Money is a tool to enhance relationships instead of a compensator for a lack of meaning in life.
Fame and fortune are fleeting but faith and family endure. Strengthen your relationships first and then money will be your servant, not your master.
