I was never a member of the "Gifted & Talented" (GT ) club in school.
But several GT students were stunned when I was
accepted to a great college, BYU, before them.
I don't blame them, I was stunned too.
My GPA was lower than theirs and my national test scores
rivaled Tiger Wood's golf scores.
Thankfully BYU looked favorably on people
who challenge themselves with crazy-tough classes and applied early.
Sometimes, the scholastically gifted and talented are prone to feel they are gifted in all areas.
So they don't put forth the necessary effort to succeed.
They tend to rest on their laurels while the underdog chooses to out work them.
The reality is each of us is amazing in a few areas and rather abysmal in many areas.
We become outstanding by hard work and lots of it.
