One couple has a rule for dealing with a problem: never bring up history (past problems).
This couple told me it helps them solve problems much easier when they don't have to solve historical problems while dealing with current challenges.
They simply focus on and solve current problems.
This is good advice for money woes too.
Don't dwell on an elaborate purchase from 15 years ago.
Don't dwell on a bankruptcy from 5 years ago.
Don't dwell on your spouse's purported woes with money.
Don't dwell on whether or not your school offered finance classes.
Don't fall victim to "I shoulda/coulda/woulda."
Only focus on your current money goal and let history remain in the past.
History is gone and over.
Today's decision is what matters most.
Your daily decisions create the history you want.
Forgot your old history if it is not productive and create a new one.
