It's tempting to blame others for our money challenges.
"My spouse loves to spend money."
"My children cost too much" or "My parents never taught me___"
Additionally we sometimes blame external things for a financial faux paus.
"There's not enough time to get more education."
"This part of the country is very costly."
"Schools should teach___, but they don't."
Our money excuses are like blaming a thorny road instead of making sandals.
Josh Waitzkin taught “To walk a thorny road,
we may cover its every inch with leather or we can make sandals” – Indian parable
Similarly athletes often say "my bad" meaning I take responsibility for a mistake.
A missed opportunity to pass a ball or a bumbled grounder elicits, "my bad."
Forget the thorns. Change doesn't happen without saying either "my bad" or "I will make
sandals."
